Learning is like building a house. Imagine you have all the bricks and materials you need, but you don’t understand their shape, how they fit together, or a house plan to bring everything together. Now imagine you are a child with a book – but you don’t understand the shape of letters, how they fit together to form words, or are unable to develop an internal plan to make sense of everything.
This is a situation in which many children find themselves. They could have access to good teachers and quality resources but may be missing a few fundamental tools to be able to flourish in the school environment. Without these being addressed, it could lead to a breakdown in learning and frustration in later school years.
Building Blocks aims to tackle barriers-to-learning through inexpensive and easy-to-use resources which combine the disciplines of teaching and occupational therapy.
